Elements Crashes After Installing Actions

As if it’s not hard enough to install actions into Photoshop Elements, every once in a while PSE will crash even though you’ve done everything right.  Have you ever seen this message after opening Elements?

Just to be clear here, this is not the same as getting the “Not Responding” message while MediaDatabase is rebuilding.  If you renamed MediaDatabase after installing actions, when you open PSE the next time, it will take a long time.  And Elements might say it’s not responding.  But if you don’t touch your computer and have lots of patience, 99 times out of 100, PSE will eventually respond.

The error message I’m talking about occurs when MediaDatabase has rebuilt completely and you think you’re about to start using PSE.   You get the message, close PSE, and reopen it.  The message comes right back and PSE crashes again.  Over and over.

There is a simple fix for it.  Rather than opening PSE from a desktop shortcut, go to the Start Menu and open Elements the “long way.”

Why does this help?  I wish I knew!  But it does.

Want to try it out?  You probably know that Texas Chicks has free actions to download. Check out these MCP freebies too:
